Clemson Football Adds Commitment from 2026 Three-Star OT Braden Wilmes
Clemson has secured its fifth commitment for the 2026 recruiting class, landing three-star offensive tackle Braden Wilmes from Lawrence, Kansas. The Tigers continue to build momentum under head coach Dabo Swinney, who is wasting no time shaping the next generation of talent.
Wilmes, who stands 6-foot-8 and weighs 280 pounds, announced his commitment Monday night after visiting Clemson for the rivalry game against South Carolina. He also attended the Tigers’ season opener against Appalachian State. Wilmes has a personal connection to Clemson, as his mother is an alum.
“Thank you, Coach Swinney, Coach Luke, and the rest of the Clemson football staff for believing in me,” Wilmes shared on social media. “The culture and traditions of Clemson are a main reason I have dreamed of being a Tiger. I am honored to be part of the Clemson family and can’t wait to officially join the football program! Go Tigers!”
Ranked as the No. 34 offensive tackle in the 2026 class and the seventh-best player in Kansas by 247Sports, Wilmes chose Clemson over offers from Florida State, Arkansas, and others. He also visited Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Kansas State during the season.

Wilmes is the first offensive line recruit for Clemson’s new offensive line coach Matt Luke in the 2026 cycle. Luke has extended offers to 13 linemen, continuing the program’s emphasis on bolstering the trenches. In the 2025 class, Clemson has already secured five offensive line commitments, including four-stars Brayden Jacobs and Easton Ware.
With Wilmes’ commitment, Clemson’s 2026 class now ranks 12th nationally, according to 247Sports.
