Duke Basketball to Welcome Back Key Player for Rivalry Game Against UNC
The Duke basketball team (18-2, 10-0 ACC) will have its full roster ready when they host the struggling UNC basketball team (13-9, 6-4 ACC) for the first of their two scheduled rivalry games this season. The game is set to tip off at 6:30 p.m. ET Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium (ESPN).
Earlier on Saturday, the No. 2-ranked Blue Devils, who have won 14 straight games — the longest current streak in the nation — announced that forward Maliq Brown will return to action for the first time since injuring his right knee in Duke’s win over Notre Dame on January 11. Brown, a 6-foot-9, 222-pound junior who transferred from Syracuse this season, has averaged 2.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists over 15 games. However, he leads Duke in steals, with 3.3 steals per 40 minutes.
Duke head coach Jon Scheyer recently highlighted Brown’s role, saying, “It’s not just the defense…he also creates disruption on defense, which can lead to easy baskets.”
On the other hand, UNC head coach Hubert Davis and his team, already with more losses than their entire 2023-24 season, are under pressure to secure an upset and extend their winning streak to three games in the rivalry.
