DONE DEAL: Phillies signs another mega deal.

The Phillies made several roster moves ahead of Friday’s 8 p.m. ET non-tender deadline. The team signed reliever José Ruiz and catcher Garrett Stubbs to one-year contracts for the 2025 season. Ruiz’s deal is reportedly worth $1.225 million, as noted by Robert Murray of FanSided.

Additionally, the Phillies tendered contracts to five key players: Alec Bohm, Edmundo Sosa, Bryson Stott, Brandon Marsh, and Ranger Suárez. If the team and these players cannot agree on salaries, the cases may proceed to arbitration, where a third party will determine the final figures. Projected arbitration salaries include $8.1 million for Bohm, $2.5 million for Sosa, $3.5 million for Stott, $3 million for Marsh, and $8.9 million for Suárez, according to MLB Trade Rumors.

The Phillies also announced they would non-tender Austin Hays, officially making him a free agent. This move aligns with earlier reports from Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

The offseason activity follows the team’s recent addition of safety depth with Jordan Young’s commitment and highlights the Phillies’ strategy of balancing roster management with future planning. Notably, these decisions occur just weeks before the Early Signing Day, underscoring the importance of efficient roster adjustments.

The Phillies remain focused on building a competitive roster for the 2025 season while navigating the complexities of arbitration, free agency, and potential trades.
