Top247 safety Tae Harris has flipped his commitment from Clemson to Georgia Tech, marking the Tigers’ fifth decommitment since late August. Harris, a standout from Cedartown, Georgia, announced his decision on Saturday, making him the latest high-profile player to leave Clemson’s 2025 recruiting class. This trend started with four-star Bryce Davis decommitting on August 25, followed by four-star defensive lineman Isaiah Campbell on September 21, as well as four-star cornerback Graceson Littleton and quarterback Blake Hebert in recent months.
Harris, originally committed to Clemson in mid-March, was ranked as the third-highest player in their 2025 class according to 247Sports. With his flip, he becomes the third-highest-rated player to commit to Georgia Tech in program history, behind only Calvin Johnson and Hobie Holiday. Harris attended Georgia Tech’s Thursday night win over NC State, which likely solidified his decision. Clemson now has 13 commits remaining in its 2025 recruiting class.
Despite the losses, Clemson recently added another four-star safety, Jordan Young, who committed three weeks ago. The Tigers still hold commitments from five Top247 prospects, including Amare Adams, Brayden Jacobs, Gideon Davidson, Marquise Henderson, and Ari Watford. However, Harris’s departure represents a significant hit to the class’s overall ranking and momentum.
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney addressed the team’s recruiting numbers earlier this month, describing them as “fluid.” He expressed confidence in the roster’s returning players and the development of current athletes. Swinney remains optimistic about the incoming 2025 class, which he believes will fill crucial gaps in the lineup.
