The Carolina Panthers have activated veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen from injured reserve as of Tuesday. Thielen was brought back on the last day of his 21-day practice window, which began on October 23. Had the Panthers not made this move, Thielen would have been required to remain on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.
Thielen, who had been sidelined for the past seven games due to a hamstring injury sustained during a 31-yard touchdown catch in a 36-22 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on September 22, will now return to action. The 34-year-old wide receiver has caught eight passes for 109 yards and one touchdown across three games this season (all starts). He previously played for the Minnesota Vikings from 2014 to 2022, earning two Pro Bowl selections and recording 645 career receptions for 7,805 yards and 60 touchdowns over 155 games (121 starts).
On the same day, the Panthers also released tight end Jordan Matthews, who, at 32 years old, had failed to record any receptions in four games with the team this season.
