The Alabama Crimson Tide, with an 8-2 record and ranked No. 10, is preparing to face the Oklahoma Sooners (5-5) on Saturday. Head coach Kalen DeBoer, in his first season, has Alabama in contention for the College Football Playoff with only two games left. Junior linebacker Keanu Koht, from Vero Beach, Florida, made a significant decision ahead of the game by entering the transfer portal.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Koht filed the required paperwork to transfer, and he has two years of eligibility remaining. Koht has appeared in seven games this season, recording four tackles, half a sack, and one fumble recovery. Since joining Alabama in 2021, he has accumulated a total of nine tackles. The six-foot-four, 242-pound player was a four-star recruit from Vero Beach High School.
Recently, Koht was suspended before Alabama’s 52-7 win over Mercer, according to DeBoer. However, the coach did not disclose the reason for the suspension or how long it would last. Koht’s NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) valuation, as reported by On3, is estimated at $265,000.

Koht’s departure comes at a pivotal time for Alabama, which is gearing up for its final regular-season games with playoff implications. The move adds to the challenges faced by DeBoer and his team in navigating the season while managing roster changes.
This update highlights Alabama’s ongoing player transitions and strategic adjustments as they aim for a strong finish to their season and potential playoff berth.
