JUST IN: Phillies Cut Ties With Projected $95 Million All-Star After Huge Trade

The Philadelphia Phillies may be preparing to move on from All-Star left-hander Ranger Suárez following their acquisition of Miami Marlins pitcher Jesús Luzardo. The trade gives the Phillies a deep starting rotation, raising questions about Suárez’s future with the team.

Suárez earned his first career All-Star selection in 2024, delivering a strong performance with a 12-8 record, a 3.46 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and 145 strikeouts over 150 2/3 innings. However, despite his success, FanSided’s Edward Eng suggests Suárez could be on the trade block. Eng points to durability concerns from the second half of the 2024 season, which impacted Suárez’s effectiveness, as well as the Phillies’ decision to extend Cristopher Sánchez but not Suárez as signs that he may not be part of the team’s long-term plans.

Adding to the speculation is Suárez’s recent switch to agent Scott Boras, known for negotiating some of MLB’s most lucrative contracts. This move suggests Suárez is unlikely to sign an extension before reaching free agency after the 2025 season. With a projected arbitration salary of $11.3 million for next year and a market value estimate of five years and $94.7 million for a long-term deal, his future in Philadelphia remains uncertain.

Phillies Predicted To Cut Ties With Projected $142 Million All-Star Infielder

While Taijuan Walker is seen as the most likely candidate to exit the rotation, Suárez’s trade rumors highlight the possibility that the Phillies may capitalize on his value and make a move before his contract expires.
