Royals Showing Interest in Phillies’ All-Star Infielder Alec Bohm
The Philadelphia Phillies had an impressive 2024 regular season, leading the league in All-Star selections. However, their postseason run ended earlier than expected, falling short of an NLCS appearance. In response, the team is exploring ways to strengthen their roster, even if it means parting with key players from their successful campaign.
One such player reportedly on the trade block is third baseman Alec Bohm, who started in the 2024 All-Star Game. According to MLB.com’s Anne Rogers, the Kansas City Royals have expressed interest in Bohm as part of their search for a star hitter, potentially offering a pitcher in return.
“Two other players the Royals have checked in on are Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm and Angels outfielder Taylor Ward, according to sources, but nothing has progressed deeply yet,” Rogers reported.
The Royals are also rumored to be pursuing Reds second baseman Jonathan India, though Bohm had a stronger 2024 season. While a deal appears to be in its early stages, the mutual needs of both teams make this trade scenario intriguing. The Phillies are seeking to bolster their pitching staff, while the Royals are focused on adding a standout hitter.
However, Bohm’s value as an All-Star infielder is likely higher than the pitchers Kansas City is reportedly willing to trade. Any potential deal would require significant negotiation to align the value both teams expect from such a swap.
