Juan Soto has an important meeting scheduled for Monday.
The star outfielder, who is the most sought-after player in MLB free agency, will meet with the New York Yankees. This will follow meetings with other teams vying for Soto, including the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, and New York Mets. According to Bob Klapisch of NJ.com, the Yankees’ meeting with Soto will be led by owner Hal Steinbrenner, general manager Brian Cashman, and manager Aaron Boone, who will emphasize the potential of teaming up with Aaron Judge and contending for the playoffs year after year.
The Yankees are also reportedly prepared to make a substantial financial offer to land Soto. Steinbrenner is said to be fully committed to signing the four-time All-Star, but Klapisch notes that there’s no certainty the Yankees will offer the most money. With Mets owner Steve Cohen, known for his aggressive spending, also in the mix, it’s unclear which team will come out on top. Nevertheless, the Yankees are expected to present a very strong case to sign the game-changing outfielder.
