Rumors surrounding Buffalo Bills cornerback Rasul Douglas are garnering attention. Selected in the third round of the 2017 draft, Douglas has always believed in his NFL potential. After a mixed start with the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers, he found a starting role with the Green Bay Packers for three seasons. However, it’s his past three seasons with the Bills that have truly showcased his talent as a cover corner and vital part of their elite defense. With his contract set to expire after the 2024 season, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler suggests that an extension in Buffalo is possible, and Douglas seems to be on board with the idea. “The Bills appear open to extending Douglas, who has fit seamlessly since being acquired via trade in 2023,” Fowler noted, “but they also need to plan for rising corner Christian Benford, who becomes a free agent in 2026. Additionally, 2022 first-round pick Kaiir Elam could step into a starting role if Douglas departs.”

Although Douglas hasn’t secured an interception this season, he notched four in 2024, demonstrating his strong performance after being traded from the Packers. Following the loss of Tre’Davious White and other key secondary players to free agency as Buffalo adjusted to salary cap requirements, retaining Douglas would not only bolster their defensive strength but also provide him with the long-term security he desires.
