BREAKING NEWS: Bills’ final decision on Tom Brady reacting to Quarterback Josh Allen.

Tom Brady is facing criticism over his choice of words when discussing Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. During the October 27 Fox broadcast of the Bills vs. Seahawks game, Brady, 47, commented, “Sometimes he played like a spaz, like a grade-schooler on a sugar high, but now he’s controlled the chaos. He’s like a storm coming into town, and you don’t want that storm coming into this town.” The term “spaz,” often considered offensive as it can disparage people with disabilities, drew backlash from viewers.

On social media, some fans expressed their disapproval. One person on X noted, “Did you hear Tom Brady call Josh Allen a ‘spaz’ in the first half? Highly offensive to people who have physical disabilities.” Another user added, “Brady really just said a player played ‘like a spaz.’ Ew.”

Brady had supporters as well, with some arguing that the term wasn’t widely known to be offensive. One supporter on X stated, “People giving Brady grief for using ‘spaz’… Not everyone is going to know that. Everyone is learning and deserves a little grace.” Another echoed, “No way people are mad at Tom Brady for saying ‘spaz’—stop being so soft.”

The conversation around the term isn’t new. In June 2022, singer Lizzo faced similar backlash and removed the word “spaz” from her song “Grrrls,” explaining her commitment to not promoting derogatory language. Beyoncé also adjusted lyrics in her song “Heated” to replace the term after feedback from fans.
