The Detroit Lions have promoted two players from their practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans: edge rusher Al-Quadin Muhammad and tight end Shane Zylstra. This move allows both players to join the active roster for the matchup.
Muhammad’s elevation aligns with head coach Dan Campbell’s comments earlier in the week, where he mentioned the potential for Muhammad to make his first NFL appearance since 2022. With Aidan Hutchinson sidelined and Josh Paschal unavailable due to a recent health check-up, the Lions need extra depth at defensive end. Campbell described Muhammad as a tough, hard-working player, known for his ability to set the edge and bring a power-oriented approach to the pass rush.
In addition to Muhammad, the Lions will field Isaiah Thomas, who joined the team from the Bengals’ practice squad two weeks ago and has also been out of NFL action since 2022. Campbell expressed optimism about seeing Thomas play, highlighting his physicality, size, and intelligence.
Meanwhile, Isaac Ukwu remains on the practice squad this week, marking the first time in three games he will not be eligible to play. For the second consecutive week, Zylstra has been added to the active roster, having played his first snaps of the season last week, including a few as a fullback, while fellow tight end Parker Hesse was inactive.
