Steelers 2025 Mock Draft After Week 7: Pittsburgh Grabs a Generational RB
Pittsburgh Steelers secured back-to-back wins after their Week 7 triumph over the New York Jets. Though the Steelers had a slow start, they capitalized on key turnovers and a blocked field goal, shifting the momentum in their favor. This allowed Russell Wilson to shake off some early rust and help his team secure the win.
Now sitting at a solid 5-2 record, most fans aren’t thinking about the 2025 NFL Draft just yet. However, with a number of key players becoming free agents at the end of the season, Pittsburgh will have plenty of needs to address. This mock draft lays out a potential path for the Steelers to tackle those needs.
Round 1: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State
In an ideal scenario, Ashton Jeanty falls to the Steelers in the first round. While it’s unlikely that Jeanty will be available this late, it would be a dream scenario for Pittsburgh. With Najee Harris set to depart, Jeanty could be the top-tier running back the Steelers need. He’s been putting up impressive numbers and is a strong contender for the Heisman Trophy.
Round 2: Kobe Hudson, WR, UCF
Kobe Hudson started at Auburn before transferring to UCF, where he has truly shone. He fits the mold of a typical NFL receiver, with the size and skills teams covet. Hudson is having one of his best seasons and could elevate his draft stock even further with strong performances down the stretch.
Round 3: Drew Allar, QB, Penn State
With Russell Wilson looking solid, the Steelers might retain either him or Justin Fields for next season. However, they still need to plan for the future. Drew Allar is a developmental quarterback with significant potential. If Wilson returns, Allar could be groomed to take over in a few years once Wilson retires.
Round 4: Mansoor Delane, CB, Virginia Tech
The Steelers might be in the market for a starting cornerback, especially if Donte Jackson isn’t re-signed. Mansoor Delane offers great size and has significant starting experience. He’s young and has room to develop, making him a promising option for Pittsburgh’s secondary.
Round 5: Ricky White, WR, UNLV
Though Pittsburgh picks a receiver earlier, they could still use additional depth. Ricky White’s production at UNLV has been outstanding, and he continues to contribute solid numbers. He’s also added punt return duties to his skill set, which will be attractive to the Steelers.
Round 5: Charles Grant, OT, William & Mary
Mike Tomlin would likely love to draft a player from his alma mater. Charles Grant is a versatile offensive tackle with strong athleticism. He can play multiple positions on the line, making him an ideal developmental player who could eventually become a starting swing tackle.
Round 7: Nazir Stackhouse, DT, Georgia
While Cam Heyward has been excellent this season, the Steelers may still need depth on the defensive line. Nazir Stackhouse hasn’t quite lived up to his recruiting hype, but Pittsburgh could take a chance on his raw physical talent, hoping he can develop at the next level.
Ashton Jeanty
Round 7: Collin Oliver, EDGE, Oklahoma State
Collin Oliver has appeared in previous mock drafts for the Steelers, and it still makes sense. While he’s missed time this year, his past production shows promise. With a light frame, he’ll need to rely on speed, but Pittsburgh could take a chance on him as a depth option at edge rusher.
