Just In: Virginia Tech Head Coach Just Announced The Commitment Of A 3-Star LB To Help Boost The Team

Virginia Tech Football Secures Commitment from Prominent Class of 2025 Linebacker

On Sunday, Virginia Tech added a significant in-state commitment at linebacker. During their game against Boston College last Thursday at Lane Stadium, the Hokies hosted several recruits from the Classes of 2025 and 2026, including Brendon Haygood, a Boise State commit they are trying to persuade to switch.

Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry and his staff celebrated another commitment in the Class of 2025, this time from Brennan Johnson, a three-star linebacker who has a brother currently on the team and is well-acquainted with the program.

Despite a previous de-commitment from Matthew Outten, who flipped to Penn State in September, recruiting within Virginia has been strong for the Hokies. On Sunday, they welcomed Brennan Johnson, the younger brother of Braylon Johnson, who ranks 30th among players in Virginia for the Class of 2025. Brennan had an impressive junior season, recording 120 tackles, 18 for loss, along with four sacks and three forced fumbles, earning him the title of 2023 Virginia Class 6 Defensive Player of the Year.

He also received offers from notable programs such as Maryland, Ole Miss, Boston College, Penn State, Michigan State, Indiana, Miami, Duke, South Carolina, and Tennessee, showcasing a strong recruitment period during his official visit to Tech in June.

Brennan is the 17th commitment for the Class of 2025 under Coach Pry and the 11th from Virginia. He will be joining fellow linebackers four-star Brett Clatterbaugh and three-star Noah Chambers. Other defensive recruits in this class include Sheldon Robinson (safety), Christian Evans (defensive lineman), Knahlij Harrell (cornerback), Zeke Chinwkie (edge), and Sherrod Henderson (edge). Brennan Johnson is expected to be one of several future commitments for the Hokies next season.
