The Falcons have placed outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter on injured reserve, as announced by the team on Saturday.
Carter entered the NFL’s concussion protocol earlier in the week. Initially, the Falcons reported that Carter missed Wednesday’s practice due to an illness, but it was later confirmed to be a concussion.
In six games this season, Carter recorded 11 tackles and two quarterback hits, playing in 50% of the team’s defensive snaps and 23% of special teams snaps. A third-round pick by the Giants in 2018, Carter has been with the Falcons since 2022.

James Smith-Williams is expected to step in as the starter in Carter’s absence, with Arnold Ebiketie potentially seeing more playing time.
To fill the roster spot, the Falcons signed cornerback Kevin King from the practice squad. Additionally, the team promoted cornerback Natrone Brooks and defensive lineman Demone Harris from the practice squad for Sunday’s game.
