JUST IN: Pittsburgh Steelers land a top wide receiver following the release of Jaray Jenkins

The Pittsburgh Steelers have released wide receiver Jaray Jenkins from their practice squad and signed Lance McCutcheon, the team announced on Monday. Jenkins, who performed well during training camp and preseason, was originally cut on cut-down day but rejoined the practice squad on September 17. Now, he will need to seek a new team.

An undrafted free agent from LSU, Jenkins initially signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars after the 2023 NFL Draft and spent last season with them, but was not re-signed.

He later joined the Steelers in June during OTAs. The Steelers now have Brandon Johnson, Quez Watkins, and McCutcheon as wide receivers on their practice squad. With no reported injuries to any wide receivers in their recent game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the timing of the roster move is somewhat puzzling.
