There’s a trade idea floating around that suggests the Buffalo Bills could acquire Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, a move that could have a big payoff. Higgins is currently at a crossroads in his career, with trade rumors intensifying as he seeks a long-term contract after the Bengals placed the franchise tag on him.
Higgins, who signed a one-year tender, returned from a hamstring injury in Week 3, but the Bengals’ poor start to the season has fueled speculation about his future with the team. As he approaches free agency at the end of the season, Cincinnati may look to trade him rather than risk losing him for nothing, with teams like the Kansas City Chiefs also reportedly interested.
Higgins, despite rumors and recent injury concerns, remains focused on his game, showing his potential on the field. As the Bengals weigh the benefits of keeping him versus trading him for compensation, teams looking to strengthen their rosters, like the Bills, could benefit. Analysts, including Bleacher Report’s David Kenyon, argue that the Bills would greatly benefit from adding Higgins, providing quarterback Josh Allen with another strong receiving option.
Given Cincinnati might receive a compensatory pick if Higgins leaves in free agency, a trade could see the Bills offer at least a third-round pick, potentially a second-rounder if Higgins signs an extension with Buffalo.
While it’s unlikely that the Bengals would trade Higgins to a direct AFC competitor like the Bills, Buffalo is exploring ways to enhance their receiving corps. Other potential targets include Romeo Doubs from the Packers or Amari Cooper from the Browns. But acquiring Higgins, although ambitious, could give the Bills the offensive firepower they need to contend deep into the postseason.
