In one of Week 7’s most anticipated college football matchups, the top-ranked Texas Longhorns faced the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners in the annual Red River Rivalry. The rivalry, dating back to 1900, saw Oklahoma enter as underdogs despite having won seven of the last 10 meetings. Texas, now ranked No. 1 for the first time since 2009, was seeking revenge after Oklahoma’s last-second victory in 2023 under then-quarterback Dillon Gabriel.
Oklahoma linebacker Danny Stutsman added fuel to the fire by making t-shirts that read, “Oklahoma only fears God, Texas fears Oklahoma,” which went viral. After Texas’ 34-3 win on Saturday, star linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. responded with his own statement, posting on social media with a ripped Oklahoma Baker Mayfield jersey and the caption, “Texas fears nobody.”

The origin of the jersey remains unclear, as Mayfield last played for Oklahoma in 2017. However, after the win, Texas planted its flag on the jersey at midfield and even shot their cannon through it. Addressing the incident, Hill said, “I just feel like it was the right thing for me to do.
I saw all the stuff they posted last year, so I felt it was right for me to get a touch of something on them.” Hill had a standout performance, recording 11 tackles, two sacks, and 3.5 tackles for loss. Texas, the last undefeated team in the SEC, will face No. 5 Georgia next week in Austin, while Oklahoma prepares to host South Carolina, fresh off a near-upset of No. 7 Alabama.
