JUST IN: Auburn lands another top experienced 6-foot-4 285 pounds player.

Auburn offensive line commit Kail Ellis has decided to reclassify from the 2026 recruiting class to 2025, expressing his eagerness to join the Tigers sooner. Originally committed to Auburn in November 2023, the Cass (Ga.) standout announced his decision to move up a year, saying, “I’m just ready. Ready to be a Tiger.”

Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 285 pounds, Ellis was ranked as the No. 291 overall player and No. 23 interior offensive lineman in the 2026 class by the 247Sports Composite. His new 2025 ranking will be determined soon. Ellis plans to visit Auburn for the Texas A&M game and is set to sign on December 4th, finish his academics in the spring, and enroll at Auburn next summer.

Ellis cited Auburn’s fit for his goals and the opportunity to play alongside talented recruits like quarterback Deuce Knight as reasons for his early move. After discussions with Auburn coaches Jake Thornton and Hugh Freeze, he believes it’s the right time to learn from veteran players and compete for a spot. Ellis has been a frequent visitor to Auburn, attending every home game this season and participating in a private workout in June.

With Ellis’ reclassification, Auburn now has 26 commitments in their 2025 class, which ranks No. 3 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings. He joins a strong group of linemen, including 4-star tackles Tavaris Dice and Broderick Shull. Auburn is also still pursuing other top prospects, such as 5-star tackle Andrew Babalola. Meanwhile, Auburn’s 2026 class, now with five commitments, has dropped to No. 6 in the rankings following Ellis’ move.

Ellis is eager to contribute, with the opportunity to redshirt and learn behind current Auburn center Connor Lew, who will be a junior next season. “Excited is an understatement,” Ellis said, looking forward to being part of Auburn’s elite 2025 class.
