Breaking News: Rangers Surprisingly trade Away Fan-Favorite Enforcer For A Winger

In a mock trade scenario, the New York Rangers are suggested to part ways with fan-favorite enforcer Matt Rempe, trading him to the Toronto Maple Leafs for winger Nick Robertson. With the Rangers facing tough roster decisions as preseason ends, Rempe and Adam Edstrom are competing for a fourth-line spot. Instead of cutting one, a trade could solve the issue.

Matt Rempe hopes his offseason made him a better fighter and a better player for the Rangers

In the proposed trade, New York would receive Robertson, a 23-year-old bottom-six winger who requested a trade from Toronto. Though productive in 56 games last season, Robertson’s chances of making the Rangers’ roster appear slim, given New York’s existing third line of Will Cuylle, Filip Chytil, and Kaapo Kakko. Even finding a spot on the fourth line could prove challenging for Robertson, as it’s a more physical unit.

The trade ultimately may not benefit the Rangers, as Rempe, a fan favorite and hardworking player, could have more potential if further developed rather than being swapped for another team’s fringe player.
