Starting linebacker and team captain Alex Singleton was placed on season-ending injured reserve after tearing his ACL. Despite sustaining the injury in the first quarter of Denver’s Week 2 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Singleton played through the game, leading the team with 10 tackles.
In response, the Broncos added linebacker Zach Cunningham to their practice squad. Singleton’s absence could make it easier for the Jets to exploit the middle of the field, as he had already registered 31 tackles over the first three games. Denver’s defense, which has allowed only 20 points in their last two games, will likely feel the impact of losing one of their key players.
