Rangers’ Artemi Panarin Suffers Potentially Season-Altering Injury
The New York Rangers may face an early setback in the 2024–25 season after star winger Artemi Panarin sustained a potentially serious lower-body injury during a preseason game against the New York Islanders. As reported by Mollie Walker of the New York Post, Panarin left the game in the third period and did not return.
Head coach Peter Laviolette confirmed the injury but provided limited details on the timeline for Panarin’s return, stating that both Panarin and Ryan Lindgren, who also exited with an upper-body injury, were still being evaluated.
Panarin’s injury came during the Rangers’ 6–4 victory at Madison Square Garden, where Filip Chytil also briefly left the ice but was able to return. Both Panarin and Lindgren are set to undergo further evaluation, with updates expected later in the week. If Panarin is sidelined for an extended time, it could have a major impact on the Rangers’ season.
The 32-year-old is coming off one of his best seasons, recording 120 points (49 goals and 71 assists) in 82 games. His absence would leave a significant void in the Rangers’ offense, particularly on the top line and power play, following a Presidents’ Trophy-winning season.
