Los Angeles Kings head coach Jim Hiller announced that winger Arthur Kaliyev will be out indefinitely due to a fractured clavicle. Although the exact cause of the injury wasn’t detailed, Hiller noted it happened on the second day of training camp. There is no current timeline for Kaliyev’s return or any updates on his condition.
The injury occurred just days after Kaliyev signed a one-year, $825,000 extension with the Kings on September 18th, following a summer as a restricted free agent without arbitration rights. He will be a restricted free agent again in 2025, this time with arbitration rights.
It’s a tough break for Kaliyev, who was looking to rebound after a disappointing 2023-24 season, where he recorded only 7 goals and 8 assists for 15 points in 51 games—nearly half his previous production. He also didn’t participate in the Kings’ playoff games as they were eliminated in the first round by the Edmonton Oilers.

Drafted in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Kaliyev worked his way through the OHL and AHL before securing a full-time spot with the Kings in 2021-22. He has been a regular on the Kings’ roster for the last three seasons.
As the Kings aim to advance beyond the first round of the playoffs, where they’ve been eliminated by the Oilers for three consecutive seasons, they made several roster moves, including trading for Tanner Jeannot and Darcy Kuemper, and signing Warren Foegele and Joel Edmundson. They currently have about $1.3 million in cap space with no restricted free agents left to sign.
