GOOD NEWS: Yankees star Aaron Judge all out to finish off tittle contenders for AL East title.

The New York Yankees are on the brink of securing the AL East title, needing just one more win in their upcoming series against the second-place Baltimore Orioles. Aaron Judge, more than anyone, is eager to get the job done. “Magic number is down to one,” the Yankees’ captain told reporters, according to Greg Joyce of the New York Post. “Let’s just go take care of business now.”

Judge’s impatience is understandable, given that the Yankees have been locked in a tight battle with the Orioles for most of the 2024 season. However, after sweeping the Oakland Athletics in their final road series, New York now holds a commanding six-game lead. Judge, who’s been a key player in their success, is due for some rest. He’s played in 154 of the Yankees’ 156 games this year and is having one of the best seasons of his career, hitting an impressive .323/.458/.695. With the playoffs looming, giving Judge some time off could ensure he’s fresh for October.

While it would be ideal to see Judge take a break, Yankees fans are hoping he plays at least one of the final three games of the season. The Pittsburgh Pirates are visiting Yankee Stadium this weekend, and rookie sensation Paul Skenes is set to pitch. After a much-anticipated but underwhelming All-Star Game showdown, where Judge grounded into a force out against Skenes, fans are eager to see him take another shot at the rookie’s triple-digit fastball before the season wraps up.
