Breaking News: Struggling Cowboy Leaves Practice Early With Shocking Injury

A second-year defender for the Dallas Cowboys left Wednesday’s practice with an apparent injury. The team is focused on bouncing back in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens after a 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints at home.

Facing Baltimore’s high-powered offense, which ranks first in total yards (417.5), fourth in passing yards (249.5), and seventh in rushing yards (168), the Cowboys defense will have a tough task ahead. However, the injury to the struggling defender could make things even harder.

There’s no official update on the severity of the injury, but it adds to a challenging situation for Smith, who had a rough rookie season in 2023 and hasn’t improved much this year. In 56 snaps, he’s earned a 28.9 overall grade from PFF. Last season, he recorded just 13 tackles and three tackles for loss. So far in 2024, Smith has yet to make any statistical impact through two games.

With Mike Zimmer now in charge as defensive coordinator, Smith hasn’t made a good impression. The severity of his injury remains to be seen, but either way, Smith needs to improve soon, or his future in Dallas may be in jeopardy.
