The New York Yankees continued their strong season with a 5-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, solidifying their three-game division lead over the Baltimore Orioles and taking the series against their rivals 3-1. Aaron Judge, the Yankees’ captain, crushed his 53rd home run of the season, the most in MLB. This came after Red Sox pitcher Brayan Bello attempted to hit Judge during the seventh inning of Boston’s 7-1 win the previous day.
When asked about being thrown at, Judge gave a sharp response: “You play this game for a while, things like that happen. … So, I think the biggest thing is, just don’t miss when you do it,” MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch reported after Sunday’s game on X (formerly Twitter).

It’s no surprise that opponents, especially the Red Sox, target Judge, but he had the last laugh throughout the series. After a recent slump, Judge appears to be regaining his MVP-caliber form. He’s currently the favorite for AL MVP and may even surpass his own AL home run record. His stellar play has kept the Yankees atop the AL East as they head toward October.
