The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed safety Terrell Edmunds, a familiar name for the team, to their active roster. Edmunds was previously on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad after not making their final roster following the preseason. In 2023, he started the season with the Philadelphia Eagles before being traded to the Tennessee Titans midseason. He ended the year with 2.5 sacks, 48 tackles, and an interception, marking a career-high in sacks.
This move reunites Edmunds with the Steelers, who originally drafted him 28th overall in the 2018 first round. During his first five seasons in Pittsburgh, Edmunds recorded 410 tackles, five sacks, and five interceptions. Although not a standout star, he provided steady play alongside safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, forming a solid duo.
Edmunds is not expected to start, as offseason acquisition DeShon Elliott had a strong Week 1 performance, but he could provide valuable depth. His experience under coach Mike Tomlin and potential contribution to special teams, especially with the league’s new kickoff rules, make him a useful asset.
