The recovery timeline could range from 12 weeks to as long as a full year, depending on the specifics of the surgery. Currently, there are no details about who will perform the surgery or the severity of the injury, but a prolonged recovery could keep Baez out well into 2025.
This injury adds another layer of uncertainty to Baez’s future with the Tigers. After signing a six-year, $140 million contract before the 2022 season, Baez has struggled, hitting just .221 with 32 home runs. His 2024 season was particularly disappointing, with a .184 average and only six home runs.
