Paul Finebaum Shares Bold Prediction for Auburn Football’s 2025 Aspirations
Paul Finebaum has confidence in Auburn football’s future under Hugh Freeze, predicting a promising 2025 season following Freeze’s roster overhaul, which was bolstered by the addition of former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold via the transfer portal.
Finebaum praised Freeze’s efforts in recruiting top in-state talent, with Auburn securing commitments from eight of Alabama’s top 10 prospects.
“I’m strangely bullish on Auburn,” Finebaum told On3. “Every time I mention this, people push back, but I like what I see. They landed a quarterback who I think can make an impact, even if he didn’t do much at Oklahoma.”
Despite optimism, Finebaum acknowledged Auburn’s struggles, including a disappointing 5-7 season in 2024.
“Freeze still faces a pivotal season,” Finebaum said. “It won’t matter what he’s building if he doesn’t deliver results soon, but I do see momentum there.”
Freeze’s tenure at Auburn has shown promise but has yet to deliver wins in critical road games. Fortunately, Auburn’s two most significant matchups of 2025—the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry and the Iron Bowl—will take place at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
With Georgia experiencing defensive setbacks and Alabama navigating uncertainty under Kalen DeBoer, Auburn has an opportunity to capitalize. Even losses to both teams might not derail a potential College Football Playoff bid if the Tigers replicate a Tennessee-style resurgence.
While Auburn fans would be satisfied with a 7-5 or 8-4 record, a single winning season could reignite optimism. With Freeze’s leadership, the development of two strong recruiting classes, and the addition of a top-10 recruiting cycle, many believe a turnaround is within reach.
