The Detroit Tigers have traded starting pitcher Jack Flaherty to the Los Angeles Dodgers, reports Jeff Passan. In exchange, the Tigers received catcher/first baseman Thayron Liranzo and shortstop Trey Sweeney, as noted by Tigers beat writer Evan Petzold. Flaherty had signed a one-year, $14 million contract with the Tigers on December 20, 2023. During the 2024 season, he posted impressive numbers, including a 2.95 ERA and a 0.956 WHIP over 106.2 innings in 18 games, with a record of seven wins and five losses and 133 strikeouts.
Flaherty’s career stats highlight his reliability and talent as a starting pitcher. He has achieved a 13.0 WAR, a 3.64 ERA, and a 1.175 WHIP in 774.1 innings. He has started 143 games out of 149 appearances, amassing 49 wins, 39 losses, and 881 strikeouts.
