Good News: Another Experience Player Confirm A Deal With Detriot Tigers

The Detroit Tigers have finalized a trade to acquire Ricky Vanasco from the Dodgers. Following Sunday’s trade of catcher Carson Kelly to Texas, the Tigers had an opening on their 40-man roster, which they filled by acquiring the 25-year-old right-handed reliever for cash considerations. Vanasco has been assigned to Triple-A Toledo.

Previously a top prospect in the Rangers’ system, Vanasco has faced significant challenges, including Tommy John surgery in 2020, missing the entire 2021 season, and knee surgery in 2023. Despite these obstacles, he has posted a 3.47 ERA and a 24% strikeout rate in Triple-A this season. However, command issues have been a concern, with a 19% walk rate.

The Tigers aim to harness Vanasco’s potential and work on improving his command as he progresses in Triple-A Toledo.
