Knicks President Releases Official Statement on OG Anunoby’s Impact on the Franchise

While many were enjoying their weekends, New York Knicks president Leon Rose took the opportunity to praise one of his key players, OG Anunoby. Rose and his front office released an official statement on the Knicks’ PR X page, highlighting Anunoby’s significant contributions as he returns for the 2024-25 season (h/t Bleacher Report’s Andrew Peters).

“Since his arrival in New York, OG has personified the type of player and teammate this organization and city embody,” Rose stated. “OG’s offensive and defensive presence is undeniable and was a huge part of our success last season. We are thrilled to bring OG back to New York and continue the process of building a team and culture that makes our fans proud.”

Knicks Have Something Special with OG Anunoby

Anunoby excelled after his trade from the Toronto Raptors to the Knicks last winter. The British wingman played a pivotal role in the Knicks’ 12-2 run, and according to NBA.com, he maintained a positive +/- in all 23 games with the Knicks, marking the longest positive +/- streak in team history since the 1996-97 season. During these 23 games, the Knicks achieved a 20-3 record.

Anunoby to Lead Knicks Defense Next Season

Anunoby, a former 2019 NBA champion, made a significant defensive impact last season, effectively guarding top scorers on the perimeter and contributing to interior defense. With Isaiah Hartenstein no longer with the team, Anunoby will be crucial in anchoring the Knicks’ defense and will also take on a larger offensive role. Rose’s endorsement ensures that Anunoby is a valued player in New York for the foreseeable future, and he’ll have the opportunity to prove his worth starting next season.
