Massive Offensive Lineman Elijah Vaikona Commits to USC

Elijah Vaikona, the towering 6-foot-8, 365-pound offensive lineman from Rancho Santa Margarita Catholic High School in California, has committed to play college football for the USC Trojans. His decision to stay close to home marks a significant addition to USC’s recruiting class, which is aiming for a top 20 finish in national rankings.

Vaikona shared his reasons for choosing USC with 247Sports, emphasizing the importance of staying near his family while also pursuing high-level football. He spoke highly of Coach Josh Henson and his genuine approach to coaching, focusing on personal development as well as athletic growth.

“From a football standpoint, USC is on an upward trajectory,” Vaikona stated. “I believe they’re poised to return to their former prominence under Coach Lincoln Riley and his dedicated staff.”

Despite interest from UCLA and Washington, Vaikona ultimately opted to commit to USC after taking a final official visit to Washington. He is ranked as the nation’s No. 113 offensive tackle and the No. 138 prospect overall in California for the 2025 class by 247Sports.

Vaikona’s commitment bolsters USC’s offensive line recruitment efforts, marking the second lineman to join the Trojans’ class after Willi Wascher’s addition in April. Known for his imposing size and potential, Vaikona is seen as having the physical tools to compete early in his college career, though refinement in technique will be a focus.

Greg Biggins, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports, highlighted Vaikona’s immense physical presence and noted his development potential, particularly in improving foot speed and agility as he continues to transition from basketball to football.
