Avalanche Signs Calle Rosen for Second Stint
DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today the signing of defenseman Calle Rosen to a one-year contract for the 2024-25 season.
Rosen, 30, returns to the Avalanche after spending part of the 2019-20 season with both the Avalanche and their AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles. During that time, he played eight games with the Avalanche and 35 games with the Eagles, where he recorded 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists).
The 6-foot-1, 188-pound defenseman spent most of the 2023-24 season with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds, accumulating 33 points (2 goals, 31 assists) in 68 games. His 31 assists led all Thunderbirds defensemen, and his 33 points were the third highest among their blueliners. Additionally, Rosen played six games for the St. Louis Blues, contributing one assist.
Hailing from Vaxjo, Sweden, Rosen has amassed 31 points (11 goals, 20 assists) in 93 NHL regular-season games with the Blues, Avalanche, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He set career highs in games (49), goals (8), and assists (10) with the Blues in the 2022-23 season. Rosen also played nine playoff games for St. Louis in the 2021-22 season, his only NHL playoff experience. In the AHL, he has played 289 games, scoring 25 goals and 132 assists. He won the Calder Cup with the Toronto Marlies in 2017-18.
Rosen originally signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Maple Leafs on May 16, 2017, after playing professionally in Sweden. In the SHL with the Vaxjo Lakers from 2014-17, he tallied 33 points (9 goals, 24 assists) in 96 games. He also played in Sweden’s second tier league from 2012-15, where he registered 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists) in 106 games with Karlskrona HK and Rogle BK.
