Oregon football transfer who will make the biggest impact in the 2024 season
It feels like just yesterday that the college football season ended with Michigan defeating Washington in the national title game in Houston. With the game’s conclusion, the dreaded offseason began, leaving college football fans without their favorite sport for nearly eight months. Now in June, the weather is warming up, and we are less than three months away from the start of the 2024 season. Ducks fans are eagerly anticipating the new season for Oregon football.
Spring football offers a glimpse of hope as fans get to see their teams in action, even if it’s just a scrimmage. It marks the first sign of the upcoming season, with roster formations and depth charts beginning to emerge. Now that spring football is over, fans are on the home stretch, counting down the days until the season starts.
The upcoming college football season promises to be exciting, with numerous changes including new rules, coaching shifts, conference realignments, and an expanded playoff format. The Pac-12 is dissolving, with teams like USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington joining the Big Ten, while Texas and Oklahoma move to the SEC. Both conferences are on the verge of becoming super conferences.
Additionally, the College Football Playoff is expanding to 12 teams, with first-round games on college campuses, giving more teams a chance to compete for the championship.
Oregon football is set to be a contender once again in 2024. Transitioning to the Big Ten will be a significant change, but the Ducks are expected to be one of the top teams in the conference. They bring back key talent from last year’s successful team and have added impressive transfers.
Last season, Oregon had a strong showing, losing only two games, both to Washington. The Ducks narrowly missed out on the College Football Playoff, losing to the Huskies in the Pac-12 title game.
With the spring transfer portal now closed, Oregon has a good understanding of their roster. They have minimized losses and gained valuable additions, including a key player who will be their starting quarterback. Dillon Gabriel, formerly of Oklahoma, is expected to make the biggest impact for the Ducks this season.
Dillon Gabriel, QB, Oklahoma
Dillon Gabriel joins Oregon as his third school for the 2024 season, following stints at UCF and Oklahoma. Entering his sixth season of college football, Gabriel steps in to replace Bo Nix, a first-round draft pick. Expectations are high for Gabriel, who is anticipated to be one of the best quarterbacks in college football in 2024.
Last season, Gabriel showcased his talent by throwing for 3,660 yards, 30 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. However, he will face tougher competition in the Big Ten, known for its strong defenses, compared to the Big 12.
Despite the challenges, Gabriel seems ready for a successful season and is poised to have a significant impact on Oregon football in 2024.
