Breaking: BYU confirm another super deal

Former Stanford signee Elijah Crawford has switched his commitment to BYU after being released from his National Letter of Intent (NLI). The change comes following the hiring of Brandon Dunson as an assistant coach at BYU. Dunson, known for his recruiting prowess, had established a relationship with Crawford during his time at Stanford. When the Stanford coaching staff was dismissed, Dunson moved to Provo, and now Crawford has decided to follow him, officially committing to BYU.

Crawford, a 6-1 combo guard from New Hampshire, is a versatile scorer with the ability to shoot from distance and create his own shots off the dribble. Known for his dynamic scoring, he is expected to further develop his skills at the college level. However, he needs to improve his decision-making and facilitating abilities to reach his full potential. Playing in the competitive Big 12 Conference will challenge Crawford, but he will benefit from playing alongside experienced guards like Dallin Hall and Dawson Baker, who can help ease his transition and share the scoring burden.

Despite interest from schools such as Louisville, Kentucky, Florida, and Kansas after backing away from his NLI, Crawford chose BYU largely due to his relationship with Dunson. He visited BYU over the past weekend, which sealed the deal for his commitment.

BYU hopes that Crawford’s commitment marks the beginning of a strong recruitment period. The Cougars are targeting several high-caliber players who could immediately impact the team. With four scholarships still available, BYU’s new coaching staff, led by Kevin Young, aims to bring in additional key players to strengthen the roster.
