New Orleans Saints Address Marshon Lattimore Trade Speculations
Throughout the NFL offseason, the New Orleans Saints have frequently been the subject of trade rumors, particularly concerning their star cornerback, Marshon Lattimore. Despite the speculation, it seems unlikely that Lattimore will be traded.
Saints head coach Dennis Allen recently provided clarity on the situation, stating that he had a positive discussion with Lattimore a few weeks ago and that they are moving forward together.
Lattimore is crucial to the Saints’ defense, making his potential departure a significant challenge to overcome. During the 2023 season, he played in only 10 games, contributing 48 tackles, an interception, and eight defended passes. His performance, despite limited availability, underscores his impact when healthy. At 28, Lattimore still has several prime years ahead of him.
While the Saints could consider trading Lattimore if a favorable offer arises, financial considerations could also play a role. The Saints’ acquisition of cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry from Alabama in the 2024 NFL Draft provides a potential future replacement, easing the impact if Lattimore were to be traded.
As the offseason progresses, Lattimore’s name will likely continue to surface in trade discussions. However, New Orleans is not actively seeking to move him at this time. Lattimore has been a standout cornerback and a key playmaker for the Saints for years.
