Ali Jennings Urges Virginia Tech’s Brent Pry to Focus on Fundamentals to Spark Winning Streak
Virginia Tech star wide receiver Ali Jennings, who faced a season-ending injury early in 2024, has voiced his perspective on how the Hokies can turn their fortunes around under head coach Brent Pry. In a recent interview, Jennings emphasized the importance of returning to the basics and fostering a disciplined culture within the program.
“Get Back to Fundamentals,” Jennings Says
Despite being sidelined for much of the season, Jennings remained closely involved with the team, providing leadership and mentorship to younger players. Reflecting on the Hokies’ struggles, Jennings remarked, “Coach Pry needs to double down on fundamentals. It’s about execution—blocking, tackling, and limiting mistakes. You can’t win in the ACC without mastering the basics.”

Jennings’ contributions extended beyond his limited on-field performance in 2024. His advice often centered on accountability and mental toughness. “I told the guys, every rep matters—practice or game. You can’t take plays off and expect to win close games,” he said.
