Charlton Athletic defender Terell Thomas has caught the attention of Hungarian top-flight team Fehervar, as reported by journalist Pete O’Rourke.
Thomas, 28, is approaching the end of his current contract, which was extended by a year last summer. He has been a regular fixture in Charlton Athletic’s lineup this season, starting every game since Nathan Jones took over as manager in February.
Having initially come through Charlton’s academy, Thomas had a stint at Wigan Athletic in 2017 before returning to Charlton in 2022 after spells at various other EFL clubs, including AFC Wimbledon and Crewe Alexandra.
With 54 appearances across all competitions for Charlton since his return, Thomas could be tempted by a move to Hungary, where Fehervar currently holds a strong position in the league, sitting third and in contention for a Europa League spot. Fehervar had previously targeted a Charlton player, agreeing on a deal for midfielder George Dobson in February, although the transfer ultimately fell through. Dobson is set to join the club at the end of the season.
Charlton’s managing director, Attila Balogh, expressed regret over the failed transfer of Dobson and hinted at Fehervar’s continued interest in Charlton players.
While Charlton has stabilized under Jones after flirting with relegation earlier in the season, sitting 16th in League One, the interest from Fehervar suggests a potential move for Thomas. However, it’s also noted that such rumors could be part of agent tactics to prompt contract negotiations.
Given Fehervar’s recent interest in Charlton players, particularly Dobson, it’s plausible that Thomas has been identified as a possible target. However, it remains speculative until further developments arise.
