GOOD NEWS: Saints In Process To Extend A Superstar Player Contract

The New Orleans Saints are currently engaged in renegotiating the contract of defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, as reported by Nick Underhill. Underhill anticipates that the agreement will be finalized shortly. Mathieu had previously adjusted his contract last offseason.

Mathieu, aged 31, was drafted by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He had been in the third year of a five-year, $64.1 million contract with $35 million guaranteed when he was released by the Cardinals. Following his release, he signed a one-year contract with the Texans worth $7 million before securing a three-year, $42 million deal with the Chiefs in 2019. In 2022, Mathieu signed a three-year contract valued at $33 million, with $18 million guaranteed, with the Saints.

During the 2023 season, Mathieu played in all 17 games for the Saints, accumulating 75 tackles, four interceptions, eight pass defenses, and one touchdown.
