Corey Seager’s return to the Texas Rangers lineup is uncertain as he continues his recovery from sports hernia surgery. The initial hope was that Seager would be able to participate in batting practice and fielding drills before the conclusion of spring training in late March.
However, a recent bout of flu may have hampered Seager’s rehabilitation progress, adding a level of unpredictability to his timeline.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy expressed optimism about Seager’s potential return but admitted uncertainty regarding the timeline. Despite setbacks, Bochy highlighted Seager’s resilience, noting his ability to quickly regain form after previous injuries.
Even if Seager is unable to face live pitching before the end of spring training, he still has the opportunity to play in a couple of exhibition games against the Boston Red Sox on March 25-26. The Rangers may opt for a cautious approach, prioritizing Seager’s long-term health over a rushed return to action.
Bochy emphasized the unpredictable nature of Seager’s recovery process, recalling instances where Seager surprised everyone with his quick return to the lineup. Therefore, the Rangers will closely monitor Seager’s progress and make decisions based on medical advice and Seager’s readiness to resume playing.
