Blake Snell, a free agent pitcher and former Cy Young Award winner, continues to seek a team for the upcoming season. Despite his impressive performance with the San Diego Padres last year, boasting a 2.25 ERA, he remains unsigned as Spring Training progresses.
Throughout the offseason, there has been speculation linking Snell to various teams, particularly the New York Yankees. Many believed the Yankees saw an opportunity to pair Snell with Gerrit Cole to bolster their starting rotation. However, reports suggest that the Yankees are unlikely to sign Snell due to their reluctance to meet his high asking price.
While there’s a possibility Snell could return to the Padres, he seems open to shorter-term deals. Yet, even San Diego may hesitate to invest heavily in him. Snell’s addition would undoubtedly strengthen the Padres’ rotation, enhancing their competitiveness for the upcoming season.
As Snell continues to wait for a suitable offer, it’s possible that teams may become more willing to negotiate, potentially leading to a compromise on his asking price.
