The Houston Texans have opted to retain offensive lineman Dieter Eiselen for the 2024 season, marking another step in their efforts to strengthen their roster for the upcoming year. According to reports from KPRC, the Texans have secured Eiselen’s services with a two-year contract worth $2.095 million. This deal includes a $10,000 signing bonus and non-guaranteed base salaries of $985,000 and $1.1 million. Originally hailing from South Africa, Eiselen, who entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from Yale, previously played for the Chicago Bears before joining the Texans.
Standing tall at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 320 pounds, Eiselen brings with him an impressive collegiate background, having earned recognition such as All-Ivy League and All-American honors. After transitioning to the Texans’ practice squad following his release from the Bears last August, Eiselen showcased his capabilities and was promoted to the active roster in November. Throughout the regular season, he made significant contributions in 10 games for the Texans, adding to his total of 24 career appearances across his NFL journey.
The Texans’ decision to re-sign Eiselen is part of their broader strategy to solidify their lineup for the upcoming season. In addition to Eiselen, the team has also inked deals with cornerback D’Angelo Ross and pass rusher Marcus Haynes, further bolstering their roster composition.
