All-Pro Receiver Davante Adams Moves from Jets to Rams in Pursuit of Super Bowl
The Aaron Rodgers era with the New York Jets appears to have come to an end, and the fallout from their struggles continues as key players find new teams. The latest move involves All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams, who has signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams worth over $46 million, including $26 million guaranteed. NFL Network first reported the news.
Adams, once one of the NFL’s top receivers, rose to prominence during his time with the Green Bay Packers, where he formed a dynamic partnership with league MVP Aaron Rodgers. Together, they led the Packers to multiple conference championship appearances. However, Adams’ career took a turn after he left Green Bay for the Las Vegas Raiders.
After a brief stint with the Raiders, Adams reunited with Rodgers in a midseason trade to the Jets, which cost the Raiders a third-round draft pick. During his 11-game tenure with the Jets, Adams recorded 67 receptions for over 800 yards and seven touchdowns. While he bolstered New York’s passing game, his presence reportedly caused tension with fellow receiver Garrett Wilson, who saw fewer targets after Adams’ arrival.
With the Jets deciding to part ways with Rodgers this offseason, Adams and his $29 million cap hit became expendable. Now, Adams has secured a new deal with the Rams, a team he knows well. The Rams, led by another veteran quarterback, are banking on Adams to help maintain their status as title contenders in the coming years.
