Auburn Basketball Secures Key Commitment Following Alabama Victory
After a monumental win over Alabama, Auburn men’s basketball landed a major recruiting victory on Saturday morning. The Tigers received a commitment from standout JUCO guard Abdul Bashir, who selected Auburn over schools like Texas A&M, Nebraska, and Arizona State. Bashir, currently averaging 28.2 points per game at Casper College in Wyoming, ranks second among JUCO players in scoring. He is the brother of high-scoring Monmouth guard Abdi Bashir Jr., who ranks tenth in Division I with 20.2 points per game.
“I chose Auburn because Coach Pearl and his staff made me feel like a priority, and they have a great track record with players like me and are excellent at player development,” Bashir told On3.
Bashir joins Auburn’s recruiting class, which already includes three incoming freshmen: four-star prospects Kaden Magwood, Sebastian Williams-Adams, and in-state standout Simon Walker from Huntsville High School. Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 16 nationally according to 247Sports composite rankings.
