Duke Basketball Delivers 3-Word Response to Syracuse’s Announcement

The Duke Blue Devils secured another commanding win on Wednesday night, defeating Syracuse 83-54 at the JMA Wireless Dome. Ranked No. 2 in the nation, Jon Scheyer’s squad extended its winning streak to 16 games, improving to 20-2 on the season.

As one of college basketball’s biggest draws, Duke played a role in setting a new attendance record. Wednesday’s game saw 23,313 fans in attendance—the largest crowd for a college basketball game this season. Syracuse highlighted this milestone on social media, prompting Duke to respond with a concise three-word post: “The Duke Effect.”

Duke showcased its depth with five players scoring in double figures. Tyrese Proctor led the team with 16 points, while standout freshman Cooper Flagg contributed 11 points and five rebounds.

Duke basketball dominates Syracuse thanks to an opportunistic defense

Praising his team’s effort, Scheyer said, “Really proud of the collective effort by everybody… The defense was really good overall, and I love seeing our guys compete, have fun, and stay engaged.”

The Blue Devils will aim to continue their dominant season when they face Clemson on Saturday, with another large crowd expected at Littlejohn Coliseum. They’ll return to Cameron Indoor Stadium for a matchup against Cal on Feb. 12.
