This offseason, the Braves had a significant gap to fill in left field, and they addressed it by signing Jurickson Profar to a three-year, $42 million deal.
After being acquired last offseason, Jarred Kelenic didn’t show enough to earn a consistent spot in the lineup, eventually being replaced by Ramon Laureano. The Braves picked up Laureano off waivers, and it turned out to be one of the most underrated moves of the season.
Laureano played 67 games for the Braves, hitting close to .300 with 10 home runs and an OPS of .832. Initially, there were few expectations for him, but his performance was so impressive that the Braves seriously considered bringing him back for 2025.
In the end, Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos decided it was best to let Laureano explore other options, and the team chose not to offer him a contract. However, they left the possibility of a return open. After the signing of Profar, though, a reunion became unlikely, and now Laureano has landed with the Orioles. Baltimore boasts a deep outfield, so Laureano is likely to step in when needed, offering a strong veteran presence. His ability to hit for both average and power, combined with solid defensive skills, could make him an important asset. Deals like this often fly under the radar but can end up being the key to a team’s success in a tight division race.
