The Buffalo Bills have made significant efforts to bolster their pass rush in recent years, investing early-round draft picks and signing All-Pro Von Miller to a major contract.
However, despite these moves, the team has struggled to apply consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks—an issue that has been particularly evident in recent playoff defeats to the Kansas City Chiefs, where Patrick Mahomes exploited their defensive shortcomings.
To address this, the Bills could be preparing for another major acquisition. Jarrett Bailey of The Sporting News has speculated that Buffalo might pursue a blockbuster trade for Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby this offseason.
Bills Eyeing Major Defensive Upgrade
Bailey’s proposed trade scenario involves the Bills sending their next two first-round picks, along with a fourth- and sixth-rounder this year, to the Raiders in exchange for Crosby.
He argued that Buffalo has struggled to maximize the value of its recent first-round selections—citing Dalton Kincaid, Kaiir Elam, Greg Rousseau, and Ed Oliver as examples—so trading premium draft capital for a proven star could be a better alternative.
“None of these guys have turned into superstars and lived up to their draft spots,” Bailey wrote. “Trading two first-round picks for a dominant edge rusher like Crosby would finally give the Bills the pass-rushing presence they’ve lacked since drafting Josh Allen.”
Crosby, 27, is coming off a season in which he recorded 45 total tackles and 7.5 sacks.
Crosby’s Future with Raiders Remains Uncertain
Although trade speculation surrounding Crosby has intensified, the defensive standout has reiterated his commitment to the Raiders. He recently addressed the rumors on his podcast, The Rush with Maxx Crosby, dismissing them as “clickbait” and emphasizing his dedication to the team.
In addition, Crosby recently met with new Raiders head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek, expressing optimism about their vision for the franchise.
“(Carroll) talked about how we’re going right now—we’re not wasting time,” Crosby said, per NFL.com. “That’s my mentality every year. I want to win every year, and I see that same competitive fire in him.”
While Crosby appears committed to staying in Las Vegas, the Bills could still explore a deal that would provide their defense with a game-changing edge rusher.
