After another heartbreaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship, the Buffalo Bills are heading into a long offseason filled with difficult decisions. While the Chiefs celebrate another trip to the Super Bowl, Buffalo is already making roster and coaching staff changes.
One coach departed earlier this week, and more moves are expected in the coming weeks. In addition, the Bills have begun extending reserve/futures contracts to practice squad players—signing seven initially and later adding four more. However, they also chose to part ways with six players: DT Eli Ankou, C/G Will Clapp, S Kareem Jackson, DE Kingsley Jonathan, LB Tyreek Maddox-Williams, and DE Casey Toohill.
Veteran safety Micah Hyde also announced his retirement, marking another shift for Buffalo. While none of the released players were expected to play a major role, it’s common for NFL teams to make these kinds of practice squad cuts at this stage. The Chiefs will likely do the same once their season ends.
For now, Kansas City is focused on its upcoming Super Bowl matchup, where they are 1.5-point favorites against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. However, a pivotal offseason awaits, with key free agents like G Trey Smith and MLB Nick Bolton potentially altering the team’s future.
Meanwhile, Bills fans are left watching from home—once again hoping for a reason to root against Kansas City.
