Nolan Arenado Focuses on Preparation Amid Trade Rumors
As the St. Louis Cardinals face uncertainty about their direction for the 2025 season, third baseman Nolan Arenado remains a key figure in ongoing trade discussions. While the organization evaluates whether to rebuild or proceed with its veteran core, Arenado is focused on honing his skills in preparation for Spring Training.
The eight-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner recently shared his dedication to returning to form on Instagram, posting “Back 2 the Roots.” He has been training at the University of Texas at Austin, concentrating on fundamentals such as fielding and hitting. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Arenado is committed to regaining his peak performance.
Last season, Arenado batted .272 but experienced a sharp decline in power, hitting only 16 home runs with a .394 slugging percentage over 152 games. The Cardinals hope that adjustments to his approach could lead to improved results in 2025, should he remain with the team.
The Cardinals’ front office has expressed interest in trading Arenado, but the process has been slower than anticipated. His potential $21 million salary for next season and the team’s indecision have created tension among fans eager for clarity. Whether Arenado stays in St. Louis or begins his comeback elsewhere, his future remains a pivotal question for the organization.
